B C Kamble
A member of the Republican Party of India and a lawyer by profession. He was the only successful candidate to be elected for the Bomay Legislative Assembly from the Schedule Caste Federation during the 1952 assembly elections for Bombay. He revolted against the RPI leadership in the year 1959 (14th May) formed his own party by the name RPI (Durust). He was against the approach of another RPI leader Dadasaheb Gaikwad who was considered to be close to the communists and was leading the land reforms movement.
He also formed the Dalit Sahitya Sangh and organised the first Dalit Sahitya Samelan in the year 1958 in Bombay.
It is said he was the first one to hold a public meeting against proclamation of emergency in Bombay on July 27, 1975. He was Editor of the Janata weekly from the period 1948 to 54; of Prabudha Bharat Weekly for the period 1956 to 58. He was also the Member of the Bombay Legislative Assembly, 1952—57 and Member of the Second Lok Sabha 1957—62.
