Refers to the five families that had a major control over the cotton textile mills in the early twentieth century Bombay. These family based managing agencies/companies were Currimbhoy Ebrahim and Co, E.D Sassoon and Co, Nowrojee Wadia and Sons, Tata and SOns and D.M Petit Sons and Co. They together had controll over half the spindles and loom in the City.
