India United Mills had six units, Unit 1,2,3,4,5 and 6 and were built by the Jewish family of Sassoons and thus were earlier known as the Saassoon Mills. They were later taken over by NTC in the year... Unit No 1 spread across 20 acres is on the Ambedkar Road in Parel and abuts Bharat Mata Cinema. It was designed by architect W. Chambers for E.D Sassoon. Unit No 6 is popularly known as Indu Mills(Dadar) is spread across 12 acres and now has been reserved for Ambedkar Memorial.
