Shrikrishna Pant Niwas in Girgaon(Rajaram Mohan Roy Road) was an epicentre of the socialist movement, particularly its labour movement. The building housed the Municipal Mazdoor Union, National Railway Mazdoor Union, Mumbai Labour Union, BEST Workers Union, Bombay Hawkers Union, Mumbai Gumasta Union. All of these were at some point of time were headed by George Fernandes who used to refer ti Shrikrishna Pant Niwas as its head quarters. In August 2016 the building collapsed amidst heavy rains.
