Pathare Prabhu were one of the initial inhabitants of Bombay who according to some accounts came during the rule of Raja Bimb from Kathiawar region of Gujarat during the 13th or 14th century.

Initialy they had their own dialect Parabhai but during the later times most of them adopted marathi as their dialect.
