Ryotwari System

Ryotwari was the dominant revenue system followed in Bombay Presidency including villages of Salsette. Under ryotwari the land revenue was directly imposed on ryots, the individual cultivators who actually tilled the lands. Under this system, the zamindars had no role to place as an intermediary.
