In this schema, sathottari poetry marks a second-level modernism in the post-independence period in Marathi poetry. including such regional, national, and international cosmopolitanism through its global comparativism and its local articulation. The sathottari period is one in which the Dalit writers were writing with non-Dalit writers in English and Marathi little magazines and also running predominantly Dalit magazines themselves in which non-Dalit writers also appeared regularly.
