Sadashiv Kanoji Patil was a member of the Congress Party and held the distinction of being the mayor of Bombay for thre consecutive terms during the period 1949-50, 1950-51 and 1951-52. In the year 1949 he was made the Chairperson of the Film Enquiry Committee that was appointed by the Government of India to look in to the state of affairs of the film industry. The Committee came out with its report in the year 1951.
