Kusum Randive was member of the Communist Party of India which she joined in the year 1944 and later became part of the CPI-M. She actively supported the February 1946 Naval Mutiny and sustained a bullet injury during a procession supporting the naval mutineers. She was sister of Ahilya Rangnekar and B T Randive who were also active communist leaders.
